Roma per Kyoto Conferenza Conclusiva

DOCUMENTO CONGIUNTO DELLE CAPITALI EU

RIUNIONE del 19 settembre 2008

Questa riunione si è tenuta in maniera riservata fra i decisori politici e tecnici delle Capitali Europee presenti alla conferenza: il tema centrale è stato la discussione sulle strategie di mitigazione dei gas serra e le metodologie utili a conseguire questo obiettivo: questa condivisione di intenti ha rafforzato l’impegno comune di un reciproco scambio fra le città per attuare a livello locale una spinta propulsiva che affronti concretamente il problema dei cambiamenti climatici .

Dalla riunione, a cui hanno partecipato anche le città di Barcellona, Milano e Modena, è stato tratto un documento finale approvato da 10 città europee, che attualmente è sottoposto all’adesione delle altre capitali europee.

Follow up of Roma per Kyoto final conference

The final conference of Roma per Kyoto project, last 18th and 19th September 2008, involved the environmental personalities from EU Capitals gathered together in order to share the outcomes of the Project and identify a common strategy in GHG reduction.

On 18th September the conference was focused on spreading experiences on GHG reduction from EU Capitals, whilst the 19th there was a meeting addressed only to political and technical representatives from EU Capitals

The conference was chaired by the Deputy Mayor for Environment Fabio De Lillo and offered lot of opportunities for suggestions, remarks and comparisons, describing an overview on implemented local interventions in CO2 reducing.

All capitals agreed with the significance of cities collaboration and the common aim of reducing GHG emissions.

The Deputy Mayor De Lillo, highlighting the participative element, said: “ It’s the joining of all cities that can produce results over the world”.

The conference, organized by Zetema, focused on local solutions for a global problem that concerns everyone and can be faced only through a collaborative dialogue among all different stakeholders.

A Nobel Price to Roma per Kyoto

A media unmanned news were the commitments of the Italian Scientists against Climate change, whose came to win the Nobel Price near to Al Gore. Inside Ipcc (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change delle Nazioni Unite) are working 4 scientist from Enea, one of the partner of our project (Roma per Kyoto project), which contributed to the Climate Change research.

Voluntary Agreement
Voluntary Agreement of City of Rome

It is a public participation tool involving large representatives of the City of Rome.

The agreement was subscribed in December 2006 among several town councillorships and stakeholders of the city, grouping in companies, trade associations, professional registers, national research bodies, energy societies, trade-union organizations and environmental agencies.

They committed themselves for the exchange of information and analysis in order to share the evaluation of GHG emissions of the City and to decide jointly a set of proposals useful to draw up the City Action Plan.
